Surveillance

Sapphire only undertakes surveillance for professional clients, that is the legal profession, insurance companies, local authorities and commerce.  The Company does not provide surveillance services for private individuals in connection with domestic matters.

Professional, discreet surveillance is particularly useful with personal injury claims.  With various alleged injuries (particularly back/neck injuries and psychological problems), medical evidence is frequently inconclusive.  Video surveillance of a Claimant whilst they are engaged in their normal day to day activities is often the only way to see if reality concurs with the alleged disability.

We can provide surveillance services to local authorities in child protection cases, also such matters as “fly tipping” and anti-social behaviour of tenants.  Clients in such cases should ensure that they have obtained the appropriate authority under RIPA (Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000).

All types of commercial concerns could have cause to utilise covert surveillance with regard to moonlighting employees and other problems.  We would caution such prospective clients to first seek legal advice before undertaking surveillance. In certain cases it could be considered overly intrusive and without good cause.  Various legislation now exists which could affect surveillance.

We frequently find ourselves dissuading clients from conducting surveillance as it is not necessarily the answer.  Often we can obtain the required information by simpler and more economic methods.
